  SpyBot SpyBot-Search&Destroy - searches your hard drive for so-called spy- or adbots; that is, little modules that are responsible for the ads many programs display. Many of these modules also transmit information, including your surfing behavior on the Internet. If SpyBot-S&D finds such modules, it can remove them.
  SpyChecker We're always on the lookout for spies! "Spyware" is any technology that aids in gathering information about you without your knowledge. There are lots of ways for spyware, or "adware" as it is sometimes called, to infiltrate our lives. One of them is through software (usually free) that we download from the Internet.
